Surviving My First University Midterms

Short post today to let everyone (alright, really mostly my family) know that I survived my first two midterms here! Last week I had bio and chem midterms, so a lot of the week was spent preparing for those. While I won't know how they went for a little bit, I felt okay about bio and good about chem. This week I have a computer science midterm, then a two-week break until my physics midterm. Unfortunately, all of my classes except physics have two midterms, so I won't be done after this first round, but I suppose it's better to have my grade spread out over a few assignments rather than just one midterm and one final.

Otherwise, this week was relatively uneventful, mostly studying, but I did get to spend time with friends between classes and for meals which made it a good week. I got to go for a long row yesterday, and at some point I'll need to find some way to get pictures from the water because I can't explain the feeling of rowing among giant tankers in front of a backdrop of far-away blue mountains and the foliage of the closer trees. It's surreal, really. I also had another Tandem meeting on Monday, and my partner brought some Japanese candy for me to try, including the kind that you put together yourself by mixing sugar packets and water to make some fun treat. I don't have much else to report this week, but the days are getting cooler, the leaves are turning, and the rain has (surprisingly) been held at bay. It's fall in Vancouver!

Dessert in the making!

Finished! It was very sugary, but I can see why it's popular among Japanese kids
